The Toronto International Film Festival unveils its star-studded guest list and a new theatre venue for its Sept. 5-15 celebration.
Sandra Bullock is one of hundreds of guests expected at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
It’s the TIFF version of the gathering of the clans: the list of the hundreds of celebrities headed to Toronto for the Sept. 5-15 film festival.
The gaggle of glitterati headed to the Toronto International Film Festival, announced Tuesday, includes: Jennifer Aniston, Juliette Binoche, Sandra Bullock, Nicolas Cage, Emilia Clarke, Alice Cooper, Marion Cotillard, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Eisenberg, Idris Elba, Zac Efron, Michael Fassbender, James Franco, Ralph Fiennes, Colin Firth, Zach Galifianakis, Jennifer Garner, Michael C. Hall, Naomie Harris, Chris Hemsworth, Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, Nicole Kidman, Keira Knightley, Mila Kunis, Jude Law, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Julia Roberts, Daniel Radcliffe, Meryl Streep, Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, and many others.
TIFF also unveiled a new theatre venue for its myriad activities: the CBC’s 341-seat Glenn Gould Studio on Front St.
It will be used primarily for the expanded TIFF Industry Conference, which runs from Sept. 6-12, but the facility will also hold screenings and talks associated with the festival’s Mavericks, Moguls and Master Class programs, amongst others.
Calling the new theatre “a jewel,” TIFF artistic director Cameron Bailey said it will work well in combination with the nearby festival flagship building, TIFF Bell Lightbox.
“We welcome the CBC’s addition to Festival Village, and consider the venue an ideal spot for the special events and industry programming we have planned,” Bailey said.
There’s also been some consolidation of TIFF theatres and an IMAX-sized screen expansion. TIFF will be leaving the former AMC Theatres (now Cineplex) at Yonge and Dundas and taking over all 14 screens at the Scotiabank complex at Richmond and John Sts.
Meryl Streep will be also attending the festival. “August: Osage County”‘s premiere at TIFF this year’s scheduled for September 9.
