New article from today for “August: Osage County” starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, started filming before 4 days. Read below:
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Dozens of Bartlesville residents gathered on a sidewalk on Dewey Avenue on Thursday to watch as crews continued filming at a home across the street for the movie “August: Osage County.”
Co-produced by George Clooney, the John Wells-directed movie starring Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep began filming Monday in Bartlesville at Jane Phillips Medical Center.
According to what one member of the movie staff told 2NEWS at the scene on Thursday, the day’s shoot will be the second and last day of filming in Bartlesville before movie crews begin a two-week period shooting “out and about” the Bartlesville area before heading to the area of the movie’s namesake — Osage County.
There, crews will be filming at the Boulanger house outside of Pawhuska to piece together for the “silver screen” what originally was an award-winning play written by Oklahoma’s own Tracy Letts about the dysfunctional Weston family which comes together when their alcoholic patriarch goes missing.
Among onlookers near the movie set on Thursday was Jason Herr who lives only a block away from all of the action. He was walking along the movie’s dozen equipment trucks stacked up on sides of Dewey Avenue.
With his 2-year-old son squirming in his arms, he told 2NEWS he found it it fun to see something as exciting as a movie being made happening in a small town like Bartlesville.
“When Hollywood comes to town, it’s fun to see some of the celebrities that come in and watch the actual filming of the production and see how the crew put everything together. And how they set up their shoots,” he said, saying these things are not often seen in Bartlesville.
“It seems like here in just a couple years that Hollywood has come to town,” Herr said, referring to Terrence Malick and crew arrived in 2010 to film what is now known as the movie “To the Wonder.” “It’s been a lot of fun.”
When 2NEWS asked him if he has seen any of the Hollywood notables, he said, “This morning we’ve seen George Clooney and Abigail, Julia Roberts … So, it’s been a good morning so far.”
