“Hope Springs” take a coffee break at Yellow House

The Yellow House Coffee & Tea Room is one of the lucky businesses that played host to the actors and crew of “Hope Springs”.

The crew came in every morning for breakfast and lunch and for several cups of coffee throughout the day. We enjoyed them very much as they were so pleasant and fun to get to know. They were a great group of people and some promised to come back and visit us.

Said the owner. The movie, starring Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones and Steve Carell, debuts in the area on August 10, 2012. Partly filmed in Stonington Borough during the fall of 2011, the movie according to a press release from Mandate Pictures and the recently released trailer, follows a woman named Maeve (Streep) seeking to spice up her marriage. Maeve and her husband (Jones) go to the town of Great Hope Springs to meet a relationship guru (Carell) for “an intense week of marriage and sex therapy.”

Geary said that during the filming the crew and actors used the Yellow House as a staging place and as a place for the actors to take breaks during the filming in front of the Yellow House.
