Meryl will bestow her “Postcards” co-star Shirley Maclaine the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award on June 7 at Sony Pictures Studios.
MacLaine and Streep first faced off in the Best Actress category at the Oscars in 1984, where MacLaine won. Years later, they become the lovable mother and daughter tandem in “Postcards in the Edge”, nabbing an Oscar nomination for Meryl.
When Meryl was honored with the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004, Shirley was one of those who paid tribute.
The 40th AFI Lifetime Achievement Award Gala will air on TV Land, June 24 at 9 pm.
